Set on the Solway Coast, Allonby is a small Georgian seaside village known for its long sandy beach, sea views and relaxed pace of life. Originally a fishing village and later a Victorian bathing destination, it still has colourful coastal cottages, wide village greens and traditional pubs overlooking the sea.
At low tide the sand stretches for miles. Perfect for long walks, paddling, beach games, kite flying and sunset strolls. Families love the space, dog owners love the year-round dog-friendly coastline.
Keswick, Buttermere, Bassenthwaite Lake and Whinlatter Forest are all within easy driving distance, so you can combine coast and countryside in one stay.
Each cottage has a fully enclosed private garden, ideal for relaxing after long beach walks. Up to two well-behaved dogs for a flat £58 per stay.
Allonby beach is dog-friendly all year, with huge open stretches of sand moments from your front door. The village has coastal walking routes, nearby countryside trails, and pubs and cafés that welcome dogs inside.
